Indeling

Burhinidae [familie]
Burhinus [genus] (1/1)
oedicnemus [soort]

Rare breeding bird in the coastal dunes in the first half of the 20th century (30 bp in 1923). The species disappeared as a breeding bird around 1956. No firm indications for breeding ever since, despite some intriguing observations, including a short staying and calling bird in 1999-2001 at an inland sand drift (Veluwe).
