Beschrijving verspreiding binnen Nederland (Engels) Since the discovery in Italy in the 19th century, this species has expanding its range in most parts of Europe. It is know considered a cosmopolitan species, mostly introduced with Malvaceae. When it was first reported from the Netherlands at Mellisant (province of Zuid-Holland) in 1980 and 1983 , specialists assumed these specimens were migrants from the United Kingdom, where the species might have stable populations in the south. There is a specimen collected at Berghem (province of Gelderland) in 1972 [in collection NMNH], this specimen might be the first record for the Dutch fauna. All specimens are collected in the wild. The species is considered a rare frequent migrant in warm periods, with fourteen records since the first record.
