The first report of this pest species was in 1948 when there was an outbreak at greenhouses at Westland (province of Zuid-Holland). Since that time, the Plant Protection Service has intercepted dozens of infected fruits by early stages of the species. It is a rare species which is often reported indoors but it have been reported several times in the wild. It is quite conceivable that the species has established in the wild, because there is an increasing number of observations from the wild in these days. In some cases it might even be common. |
