Exotenpaspoort ?

Vestigingsstatus Gevestigd
Zeldzaamheid Algemeen
Invasiviteit Potentieel invasief
Invasiviteit (toelichting) Mainly along river banks and incidentally near fens; Natural distribution: uncertain because P. x canadensis is the ornamental hybrid between P. deltoides and. P. nigra. It is doubtful whether the latter is indigenous in our country, the former however is beyond doubt of North American origin.

  • Verspreiding in Nederland (toelichting) Although there is an recent increase in the amount of spontaneous seedlings, especially in the riverine area, it is too hard to prove that all of these are definitely P. x canadensis. The poplar-planting activities that took place resulted in greater clonal diversity and thus better mixing of male and female clones; backcrosses occur often, and also between P. x canadensis and P. nigra. The identification of young poplars is hardly possible due to overlapping characters. However in spite of these taxonomic difficulties the increase from 614 to 1238 5x5 kilometre squares since 1990 cannot be ignored.
