Indeling

Fringillidae [familie]
Coccothraustes [genus] (1/1)

Widespread with high densities in mature mixed and deciduous woodland in southwest Drenthe, Flevoland, Achterhoek, Veluwe, Utrechtse Heuvelrug and south Limburg. Showed steep increase from the mid-1980s onwards, probably indicative of irruptions. Number of occupied squares more than doubled between mid-1970s and 1998-2000, and numbers increased from 3000-4500 bp in 1979-83 to over 15,000 in the mid-1990s. Since then, regional declines have been noted and population in 1998-2000 is estimated at 8000-10,000 bp.
