Locustellidae [familie]
Locustella [genus] (5/2)
naevia [soort]

Mainly found in the lower parts of the country and the coastal dunes. The higher grounds are only thinly populated and have experienced a decrease since the 1970s. In lowland areas, however, the species has benefited from expansion of suitable habitat (both changes in management and natural succession in vegetation, e.g. in recently reclaimed areas). Largest populations are found in extensive marshes (northwest Overijssel, Oostvaardersplassen), but numbers here fluctuate according to water tables. Current population is estimated at some 4000-6000 bp.
