Mideopsis orbicularis is a common species in The Netherlands, occurring throughout the country. Only the most brackish parts are avoided. The species is rare on the Wadden Sea islands, the scarce occurrence in the province of Friesland is probably due to the small number of records. Mideopsis orbicularis has been found mainly in larger water bodies: canals, lakes, sand pits and rivers. Furthermore, it occurs in canalized lowland streams. It has been found in a larger number of other water types, mostly in ditches. Mideopsis orbicularis is rather tolerant of higher nutrient levels.
