Boloria euphrosyne used to be a resident; the last population disappeared in 1969. It is categorised as 'extinct' on the Red List. It occurred mainly in the valleys of the rivers IJssel and Maas, and used several species of Viola as larval foodplant. It flew in one generation from the middle of May until the middle of June and hibernated as a pupa. Spectacular is the observation of this species in 1992 on the Frisian island of Terschelling.
