Apaturinae [subfamilie]
Apatura [genus] (2/1)
ilia [soort]

Apatura ilia is a very rare, irregular resident. It was first sighted in 1926; populations existed in the 1930s and 1980s in the province of Limburg. Individuals seen in the 1950s and 1990s were probably migrants. The species was last recorded in July 1994, when two individuals were seen at different locations. It flies in one generation; nearly all of our records are from July. It uses species of Salix and Populus as larval foodplant.
