Lampides boeticus is a vagrant. There have been eleven sightings, the first in 1964. After another one in 1967, there were none until 1987; the last was in 2003. In addition, it has been found in a supermarket three times as a butterfly and once as a caterpillar. The Dutch Plant Protection Service has been examing African vegetables for this species since February 2002; caterpillars and a few pupa have been intercepted thirty times.
