Indeling

Dismorphiinae [subfamilie]
Leptidea [genus] (3/2)
sinapis [soort]

Until the beginning of the 1990s, Leptidea sinapis occurred in the Netherlands as a migrant or in temporary populations only. However, since 1993, the species has been seen each year in growing numbers on the Dutch side of the Sint Pietersberg near Maastricht in the province of Limburg. In 2002, the species was formally given the status of 'extremely rare resident'. As larval foodplant, it uses Lotus corniculatus, Lathyrus pratensis and occasionally other Fabaceae species. The species flies in two generations, from the beginning of May to the end of May and from the middle of July until the middle of August, and hibernates as a pupa. In this atlas, all early records of L. sinapis sensu lato which could not be examined as, for example, those from the literature, are taken as L. sinapis sensu stricto.
