cyanea [soort]

Aeshna cyanea is a very common species that can be found in almost all parts of The Netherlands. It reproduces in stagnant ponds, especially where these are partly shaded and have leaf litter-covered bottoms. The species has remained stable, although it is likely to have increased locally due to afforestation (e.g. in the coastal dunes). Larvae are often found at very high densities. Such dominance of larvae in small pools can impair the reproductive success of other species.
