parthenope [soort]

Anax parthenope is a rare species in The Netherlands. The first record was a female, collected in 1939. Only in 1997 a second specimen was found. Since 1998, small numbers have frequently been observed at one locality in the extreme Southeast of the country. There are several records of single males after 1998 throughout the southern parts of the country (not shown on the map). A similar increase in records took place in the late 1990s in adjacent countries. Most records are from the vicinity of large, clear waters with abundant aquatic vegetation.
