Indeling

Libellulidae [familie]
Sympetrum [genus] (9/8)
sanguineum [soort]

Sympetrum sanguineum is very common in The Netherlands and the most abundant species of the genus. It favours meso- to hypertrophic standing water with well-developed marshy vegetation along its borders. The species benefits by the eutrophication of formerly oligo- to mesotrophic habitats. For reasons not understood the species is relatively scarce in the coastal dunes.
