Gomphidae [familie]
Gomphus [genus]
pulchellus [soort]

Gomphus pulchellus is a Southwest European species. Despite being in its northern outpost, the species is fairly common in The Netherlands. Its status has remained quite stable during the past century, although it appears to have been rarer between the 1930s and 1960s. The species is confined to the eastern and southern parts of the country. It is found in rather open, larger water bodies, for instance in gravel- or sandpits, abandoned canals and oxbows. Because its world range is small and many of its habitats are unprotected, G. pulchellus deserves some conservation concern.
