The Oak Bush-cricket is common and wide-spread, but very local on the Wadden Islands and in some polder areas. Because of its inconspicuous sound it is frequently overlooked by Orthoptera recorders. It is most easily found by beating branches of oak and birch. It inhabits various wooded biotopes, including city centres, where it lives on deciduous trees, preferably oaks. It can also be found inside houses, and after storms walking on the ground.
