The Short-winged Cone-head is common and widespread in the Netherlands. Although it mostly inhabits wet habitats such as marshy meadows, sedge marshes, shores of lakes, ponds and ditches it has also been found in dry habitats such as dunes with marram grass. In fen areas it probably has decreased due to intensivation of agriculture. The long-winged form has been found on several occasions (see map), often as isolated individuals. These specimens most likely play an important role in the dispersal of this species.
