The Dark Bush-cricket has a peculiar distribution pattern in The Netherlands. It is common in the south of Limburg, along the large rivers Maas (Meuse) and Rijn (Rhine) with its tributaries, and further occurs in wooded areas along the German border (Achterhoek and Twente) and on the sandy areas of the Veluwe. It inhabits bramble scrub, forest edges and bushy river banks, but on the Veluwe also in blue-berry shrub under pines. It is possible that the species has increased its distribution area along the rivers, possibly by transport of eggs in wood during high water.
