This nematode is a disease to Pinus trees and might cause the death of these trees. The nematode has Monochamus longhorn beetles as vector, and spreads very quickly over an area where this beetle occurs. It is not known what the effect of the nematode is on Pinus trees in more northern countries, and Monochamus is very rare in the Netherlands. The nematode can only become invasive if Monochamus beetles are becoming more common. |
