The sea lettuce species Ulva australis (syn. = Ulva pertusa) can easily be distributed by ships and shellfish transports, but also has a great natural distribution capacity as fragments (with the potential to reproduce) can be distributed over large distances by drifting along with the currents. The species is widely distributed and abundant along the western European coastline, but often missed in inventories as it resembles native Ulva species. |
